Back to my crack again!

I love the credits, but they are starting to feel long and dragged out. Not so much the entire credits, but the beginning where the main 3 are named. It gets more fast-paced after that.

A greek mythology reference! Points for the show! It really shouldn't be there since the show has forgotten-about-Rome-later-in-medieval-times period look to it, but I like that the reference is there because Arthurian mythology get did its start at the end of the Roman Empire when Britain was starting to become Britain.

Merlin's back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol at him already dismissing Arthur's "flagpoles show we're all united" idea. "Books are as valuable to us as gold. ...We should have done this sooner." Woot woot! Of course, Merlin would care about this while Arthur wouldn't. (& did the show just make Arthur look like the George W. Bush of Camelot? OMG! I approve!) I expect this will be a good Gawain episode.

Ok. This feelings like it is going to be a kick-ass episode, but I'm already dying at how unkingly Arthur has been made: "do this do that. Gwen left? Nobody can leave. I'll go after her." Because you know he has time to spare if nobody else does. Rolls eyes. At least Jamie is owning Arthur's ridic much better though.

It takes a whole episode for Arthur to merit fair justice and Morgana 2 minutes. Which one deserves to rule?! Let me think on that one. Oh wait, do I really have to tell you? LONG LIVE MORGANA!

Arthur gets talked down to his face by a person who he is supposedly helping through his rule. Priceless! And predicably Arthur, rather than stay and get to know the other commoners, insists on going with Gwen. If Arthur were Simba, he'd being singing "I'm not going to be king (today)"

"You understand the people and you care." Looks like someone's IQ is going down the drain again.

Morgana's story is complicated! I want more! And what does the show pull away to? Arthur, Gwen and the seashore. Which was nice at first (Arthur's sex dream and Merlin jumping on him when Arthur wakes up with 'who is she?!' like Merlin wants them to have a threesome 1.02), but now overly referenced and overly done. I can't even appreciate Tamsin's emerge from the water like a lost sea-maiden (seriously it would make a great fashion ad/commerical the way she moves in that dress) because the show is THIS unsubtle about it.

Just when I think Merlin is about to revive the Asshole of the Week Award again, Joseph Fiennes pulls this face. He's just been called an "angel" and his expression! You can see the bittersweetness, the regret, the sadness, the wistfulness, the lost innocence all brush across his face. If only Jamie brought that level of acting to Arthur, I wouldn't hate on Arthur so much. When Gwen asked if he wanted his old life back, he gave blank expression followed by blank expresssion even as he said "I miss my parents but I love being king" and we had to be ~told~ he was suffering from complicated guilt, feeling both ashamed and glad to where he is today.

Arthur, you do not read and you aren't a deep thinker. You wouldn't say the stars are like eyes are many gods. I don't even buy that you managed to crib that off Gawain, Kay or Leontes, Igraine, or Merlin. The show just ruined the greek mythology reference too because it's a cheap way to tie Arthur and Gwen together as "understanding" each other. Has nobody ever heard of organic plot development? I blame Chair and Twilight for this silly over the top epic romance in every corner of the sky, sea and ground storytelling. I don't need big lines! Stop with the cheese already!

And the attack? Arthur, even if you are incognito, you are still the king. Yes, you were being robbed but you were weren't being ~harmed.~ You needlessly killed several of your paupers...subjects...just now.

"This feels another life away." Peter Mooney, why weren't you hired to play Arthur? Very subtle but very good acting there: It had a "let's get to business" mentality but also with a resigned look and quiet mentality while still being in charge. Jamie, I really hate to hate on you, but subtlety is not your strong point.

Well, this isn't a Gawain centric episode as I had hoped, but at least he gets an awesome speech!

Dear god. Kill me now. Gwen's touching speech thanking everyone for being there is murdered by more cheese from Arthur. I suppose I can buy it given that he did lose his parents, but not that speech in that kind of way. It would more simple and less pretentious sounding.

What an interesting contrast between Gwen's and Kay's "let's go home" montages. Gwen is sort of resigned and wants to move on while Kay's is more triumphant and can look back with happy thoughts. Of course, Gwen isn't free from "love or marriage": Arthur is always in her face, she's never alone, he's always watching her, so hers is tragic. Meanwhile Kay knows his father kept things buried (ike Arthur's lineage, books, etc), but he'll always be able to find them when he needs them and that his father did it out of love (so Kay can be happy not resigned). Now, the show isn't this deep but the parallel is there even if the writers didn't intend it to be that way.

Twice in 1 episode???? What is the word for something that is more than overkilled? If I never see Tamsin emerge from a river/lake/sea again I'll be happy. Oh, and I don't believe they wore fishnet undergarments back in those days. In fact, I think they would be rather uncomfortable. Why must you ruin all the good things but overkilling them show?

It's official. Merlin gets the best magic effects! Whether it's freezing a lake or making leaves burn as they fall from trees. And that look of wonderment as Merlin holds the leaf! AHHHHHH! I can't take you show! I'm supposed to be mocking you and you are making squee instead? I can't even get worked up over Arty's silliness or Gwen's required swan dip.

Ok. I really want to know Morgana's back story. She evidentally knows what it means to be chosen. We need more of that and less of Arthur stalking Gwen. I can buy her punishment too. She was at the abbey. She clearly hated it. But she knows they weren't all evil. But not all were just. She took the fairest course there was. (Still pissed about Arthur killing the paupers earlier.)

EWWWWW! Almost perfect episode is murdered by a kiss! Stop with the taint! It's spreading! *SCREAMS AND FLAILS AROUND TRYING TO STOP THAT SHIT FROM MUCKING UP WITH MY LIKING THE EPISODE*

Gwen's white robe looks too modern and I'm barfing from that previous scene but LOL at "go plant more banners" "we only just back" "it's the king's orders!" ~everybody jumps up and down and starts getting gleeful and takes off for the next adventure. That basically is Arthur mythos right now.  Everybody takes a 2 second time out to recover from the last adventure and then decide to they can't waste anymore time resting because they need a new adventure. Of course, it is always Arthur telling them there's no time to rest! We need more chivalry! LOL! Nice save from the kiss show! The taint has stopped spreading (but damn it! it's sitll contained in those 3 minutes on the show!)

And the show ends with more Arthur cheese, but since he wasn't at the forefront, I can forgive it.
